Welcome to Vocabaura.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Vocabaura website, dictionary, learning activities, AI-powered language tools, Vocabaura+, AI Credits, Vocabulary Packs and any other products or services we make available (collectively, the “Services”).

“Vocabaura,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Vocabaura Services, which provides the Services to you under these Terms. Vocabaura is the brand under which the Services are offered.

Vocabaura provides and operates the Services. Payments for paid products are handled by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle, as described in the Payment Processing section below.

By accessing or using Vocabaura, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Vocabaura Support Center.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Vocabaura, applicable laws, or our business practices.

Where appropriate, we may give notice of material changes through the website, your account, or another reasonable method.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of these Terms shows when they were most recently revised.

Continuing to use Vocabaura after revised Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Vocabaura is a dictionary and vocabulary-learning platform. The Services may include:

• Dictionary entries with definitions, parts of speech, examples, synonyms and antonyms
• Simple Meaning explanations
• Pronunciation, including audio where available
• Word of the Day
• Daily 5
• Real-World Practice
• Unconfuse
• Say This, Not That
• Learn Articles and their in-article exercises
• Saved Words and My Vocabaura
• Word Review and learning progress
• Quizzes and flashcards
• Vocabulary Packs
• Vocabaura+
• AI-powered language tools such as Ask Vocabaura+, Find My Word+, Explain This Passage and other credited tools described on the AI Credits and Language Tools pages

Features change over time. This list describes what the Services may include; it is not a promise that every feature will always be offered in its current form.

Many learning features, including the dictionary, Word of the Day, Daily 5, Word Review, Real-World Practice, Unconfuse, Say This, Not That, Learn Articles and Learn to Type basics (basic practice, Smart Speed, typing tests, curated vocabulary typing and lessons 1 to 5), are currently available free of charge and without an account. Some features require an account, a Vocabaura+ membership, AI Credits, or a Vocabulary Pack purchase.

You must be legally permitted to use the Services under the laws that apply to you.

Vocabaura accounts and paid products are intended for users who are old enough to enter into these Terms in their country. Where local law sets a minimum age for consent to online services or for account creation, you must meet it.

Where a parent or legal guardian is permitted under applicable law to agree to these Terms for a younger user, that adult is responsible for that use of the Services. Parental permission alone does not necessarily satisfy every child-privacy law, and Vocabaura does not knowingly create accounts for children below the applicable minimum age.

If you believe an account has been created by a child below the applicable age, contact the Vocabaura Support Center and we will review it.

Some Vocabaura features require an account. Account sign-in is provided through email and supported sign-in providers.

You agree to provide accurate information when creating and maintaining your account.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

You may not:

• Share credentials in a way that circumvents account, membership, or purchase restrictions;
• Impersonate another person;
• Create accounts for fraudulent or abusive purposes;
• Access another person’s account without authorization;
• Sell or transfer an account without our permission;
• Use automated systems to create accounts in bulk.

If you think your account has been compromised, contact the Vocabaura Support Center.

Vocabaura is designed to make words easier to understand.

Underlying lexical data, such as headwords, senses, parts of speech, relationships and pronunciation information, comes from third-party and openly available language sources, including WordNet, Wiktionary (through the Free Dictionary API) and Datamuse. Vocabaura does not claim ownership of that underlying source data or of the facts of the language itself.

What Vocabaura does create is the layer built on top of that data: our selection and ranking of senses, Simple Meaning explanations, learner-facing wording, examples we write, editorial articles, practice material and the software that presents it all. That original material is Vocabaura’s, as described in the intellectual-property sections below.

Third-party sources remain subject to their own licences and any attribution or share-alike requirements those licences impose. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under those third-party licences, and dictionary pages identify the relevant source where applicable.

Language changes over time. Definitions, pronunciations, examples, usage notes and classifications may contain errors, omissions or differing interpretations, and we do not guarantee that every entry is complete, current or error-free.

If you believe an entry is wrong, please report it through the Vocabaura Support Center.

A “Simple Meaning” is a plain-language explanation intended to make a definition easier to understand. It may summarise or simplify, and it is not always a complete replacement for a formal or technical definition.

Vocabaura may also show estimated labels such as difficulty levels (for example A1 to C2 style bands), frequency indicators or learning-state labels. Unless stated otherwise, these are Vocabaura’s own estimates produced from language data and your activity. They are not official certifications and are not issued, verified or endorsed by any framework owner, examination board or standards body.

Consult the full entry and appropriate authoritative sources when precision matters.

Some Vocabaura features use artificial intelligence. These currently include tools such as:

• Find My Word+
• Explain This Passage
• Use This Word, Context+, Advanced Examples, Word Alternatives+ and Full Word Deep Dive

Core dictionary entries, Daily 5, Real-World Practice, Unconfuse, Say This, Not That and Learn Articles do not require an AI request to load.

AI-generated responses can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for a particular context. Please evaluate anything important independently before relying on it.

AI responses are educational language assistance. They are not professional advice.

Vocabaura is a language and educational service.

Information from Vocabaura, including AI output, should not be treated as professional medical, legal, financial, psychological or other regulated advice.

If a word, passage or response concerns an important professional matter, consult a qualified professional or authoritative source.

Vocabaura may use your learning activity, such as saved words, quiz answers, Real-World Practice results, review history and Daily 5 activity, to estimate learning states such as New, Learning, Familiar, Mastered, Needs Attention or Due for Review, and to build streaks, goals and recommendations.

These are educational progress indicators, not statements of fact about what you know. They do not guarantee that a word has been permanently learned.

Word Review schedules and other recommendations may change over time as your activity changes and as we improve the product. The underlying scoring logic is proprietary and is not published.

Vocabaura does not guarantee specific vocabulary growth, test scores, academic performance, employment results or other outcomes.

You may not use Vocabaura to:

• Violate applicable laws or regulations;
• Infringe another person’s intellectual-property or proprietary rights;
• Harass, threaten, intimidate or abuse others;
• Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, databases or interfaces;
• Circumvent security, authentication, payment, membership, usage or access restrictions;
• Introduce malware or malicious code;
• Disrupt or overload the Services;
• Extract Vocabaura content in bulk through unauthorized automated means;
• Use unauthorized bots or automated systems to abuse the Services;
• Attempt to reverse engineer protected parts of the Services, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• Fraudulently obtain memberships, AI Credits or Vocabulary Packs;
• Materially interfere with other users’ use of Vocabaura.

Nothing in this section prohibits ordinary, authorized indexing by legitimate search engines acting in line with our robots directives and site configuration, use of assistive and accessibility technologies, use of any interface we authorize, or activity that applicable law protects.

We may investigate suspected violations and restrict or terminate access where appropriate.

Some features let you submit text or other material, for example a passage for Explain This Passage, a description for Find My Word+, a question for Ask Vocabaura+, feedback, or a support request (“User Content”).

You keep whatever rights you have in your User Content. Vocabaura does not claim ownership of your writing.

You are responsible for having the rights needed to submit User Content, and you should not submit content that breaks the law or infringes someone else’s rights.

When you submit User Content to a feature, you grant Vocabaura only the permissions reasonably necessary to host, transmit, process, display and store that content in order to operate, secure and maintain the relevant Services and to generate the response you asked for. This is subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

When you use an AI feature, the input needed to answer it is transmitted to a third-party AI provider so a response can be generated. That processing is subject to our Privacy Policy and to the arrangements in place with the relevant provider, and providers operate under their own terms.

Vocabaura does not sell User Content, and Vocabaura does not use your prompts or AI-generated outputs to train its own AI models. Requests and responses may be stored in your account and in our systems for delivery, caching, billing accuracy, quality review, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

This permission does not transfer ownership of your User Content to Vocabaura.

Additional terms would apply if Vocabaura later introduces publicly posted user content.

Vocabaura+ is a paid membership, currently offered with monthly and annual billing options.

Vocabaura+ currently includes:

• Access to Vocabaura’s AI-powered language tools, including Ask Vocabaura+, Find My Word+, Explain This Passage and the word-level AI tools;
• An included monthly AI allowance that is used before any separately purchased AI Credits and resets each billing cycle without rolling over;
• Learn to Type premium features: lessons 6 to 28, Smart Accuracy, Weak Keys, Letter Patterns, Consistency, typing Smart Review, history and advanced progress, and typing your own saved, review-due and goal words;
• Membership features described on the Vocabaura+ and Pricing pages at the time of purchase.

Vocabaura+ is separate from both AI Credits and Vocabulary Packs. A membership provides ongoing access and the included monthly allowance; AI Credits are a separate one-time top-up used after the allowance runs out; Vocabulary Packs are separate one-time purchases of specific learning content. Buying one does not include the others.

Membership benefits may evolve. The benefits and price shown and accepted at checkout apply to your purchase.

If you buy an automatically renewing Vocabaura+ membership, you authorize the payment provider to charge the applicable price, taxes and disclosed fees at the billing interval shown at checkout, until you cancel.

The price, billing interval and renewal terms presented at checkout govern your purchase, and are shown to you before you complete payment.

Prices displayed on the site are for information. The amount shown and accepted at checkout is the amount that applies.

You can cancel a Vocabaura+ membership at any time from your Vocabaura account billing options, or through the billing-management link in your Paddle receipt email. The Support Center explains both routes, and we can help if you cannot find them.

Cancelling stops future renewals. Unless required otherwise by law or stated at checkout, your membership access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

After a membership ends:

• Your account, saved words, My Vocabaura and learning progress remain;
• Free learning features remain available;
• Vocabulary Packs you purchased remain unlocked on your account;
• Separately purchased AI Credits remain in your balance;
• The included monthly AI allowance and other membership-only features stop.

Vocabaura voluntarily offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on its paid products: Vocabaura+ payments, AI Credit packs and Vocabulary Packs. If you are not satisfied, you may request a refund within 30 days of that order date.

This is a guarantee Vocabaura offers as the seller of the Services. It is not a universal Paddle policy. Refunds are processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. You can request one at paddle.net or through the Vocabaura Support Center, and we will raise it with Paddle.

We may decline refund requests in cases of clear abuse, such as repeated buy-and-refund cycles. Full details are in the Vocabaura Refund Policy.

Nothing here removes statutory cancellation or refund rights you may have under consumer law.

AI Credits are a usage entitlement for eligible AI-powered features. They can be bought as one-time packs, with or without a Vocabaura+ membership.

Different AI features may require different numbers of credits. The credit requirement for an action is shown before you run it, and current costs are listed on the AI Credits page.

If you are a Vocabaura+ member, your included monthly allowance is used first; purchased credits are used only after the allowance runs out.

Where our systems determine that an eligible AI request failed before delivering a usable response, the credit for that request is returned to your balance automatically, subject to reasonable fraud and abuse controls.

Your recent credit activity, including charges and returned credits, is available in your account on the AI Credits page.

AI Credits:

• Are not money or a currency, and are not a stored-value or gift-card product;
• Have no cash value except where required by law, and cannot ordinarily be redeemed for cash;
• Do not expire, purchased credits stay in your balance until used;
• May not be transferred between accounts unless Vocabaura expressly permits it;
• May be subject to reasonable technical, fraud-prevention and account restrictions.

Credit costs and pack prices may change going forward. Changes apply to future purchases and usage; completed purchases are not repriced retroactively.

Vocabaura may offer one-time digital Vocabulary Packs, as described on the applicable product page at the time of purchase.

Buying a pack unlocks the learning content and pack features described at checkout for your Vocabaura account. Access is tied to the account that made the purchase, is not transferable, and does not currently expire from that account. If a pack is already unlocked on your account, the product page shows it as owned rather than offering it for sale again.

“Does not currently expire” means we do not apply an expiry date to pack access. It is not a promise that Vocabaura, the website or any individual feature will operate indefinitely. If we discontinue a paid product, we will provide a remedy as described in the Changes to Vocabaura section and as required by law.

If you delete your account, pack access is removed with the account and is not restored automatically.

A purchase grants access to use the content personally. It does not transfer copyright, database rights, brand rights, resale rights or rights of commercial redistribution.

You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell or commercially exploit pack content except where Vocabaura expressly permits it.

Some packs, such as SAT Vocabulary, are aimed at test preparation. This material is prepared independently by Vocabaura.

Vocabaura is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or approved by any testing organization, and references to a test are for identification only.

We do not guarantee that particular words will appear on any test, or promise specific score improvements, admission outcomes or other results.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

In practice this means that when you buy Vocabaura+, AI Credits or a Vocabulary Pack, Paddle is the seller of record for that transaction and is responsible for billing, payment collection, applicable sales tax and VAT, invoicing, refund processing and billing-related support. Vocabaura remains responsible for providing the Services themselves and for product support, and these Terms govern your use of the Services.

Your purchase is also subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms at paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms and to Paddle’s own privacy notice.

Payment details are entered in Paddle’s checkout. Vocabaura does not receive or store your full payment-card number or security code; we receive the purchase confirmation needed to unlock what you bought.

You agree to provide accurate payment and billing information, and not to use unauthorized or fraudulent payment information.

Prices may change from time to time. Price changes do not retroactively alter completed one-time purchases.

Changes affecting a recurring membership will be handled in line with applicable law and any required notice.

For transactions processed through Paddle, Paddle determines and collects applicable sales tax or VAT as Merchant of Record, and any such amounts are shown at checkout. Vocabaura does not make independent promises about the tax treatment of a purchase.

We may add, remove, modify, suspend or discontinue features or parts of the Services, for reasons such as:

• Product improvements;
• Security concerns;
• Technical or licensing requirements;
• Third-party service changes;
• Legal requirements;
• Other operational reasons.

We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available indefinitely.

This does not override what we promised you at checkout for a paid product. If we materially reduce or discontinue something you have paid for, we will provide a reasonable remedy where required by law, for example continued access for the period paid for, an equivalent replacement, or a refund of the affected amount, and we will try to give reasonable advance notice of material changes affecting paid products.

Vocabaura relies on third-party services, including for:

• Dictionary and lexical data;
• AI processing;
• Authentication and account infrastructure;
• Payments;
• Pronunciation audio;
• Hosting, security and email delivery;
• Analytics and, where applicable, advertising.

Third-party services may change or be interrupted outside Vocabaura’s control.

Except for third-party materials and User Content, the Vocabaura Services and their content are owned by or licensed to Vocabaura and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. To the extent legally protectable, this includes:

• The Vocabaura name, logo, branding and trade dress;
• Product names and interface elements;
• Original site copy and editorial material;
• Original Learn Articles and educational writing;
• Original practice questions, quizzes and learning exercises;
• Original Vocabulary Pack content and explanations;
• Simple Meaning wording and original examples we write;
• Original graphics, design and layout;
• Software, code and proprietary functionality, including our learning and review systems;
• The selection, arrangement and organization of materials, and our original databases and compilations;
• Documentation.

Vocabaura does not claim exclusive ownership of the underlying facts of the English language, or of third-party dictionary data, open-licensed source data or other third-party materials. Those remain subject to their owners’ rights and licences.

Nothing in these Terms transfers Vocabaura intellectual property to you.

These Terms do not grant you permission to use the Vocabaura name, logo, branding, trade dress or product names.

In particular, you may not use them in any way that suggests affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship or partnership where none exists.

Vocabaura asserts common-law rights in its brand. Nothing here claims a trademark registration, and we do not represent that any Vocabaura mark is registered.

Ordinary descriptive references to Vocabaura, for example in reviews, news coverage, or linking to the site, are fine.

Subject to these Terms, Vocabaura grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Services for their intended purposes.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer or commercially exploit protected Vocabaura materials, except with our permission, where a third-party licence gives you those rights in third-party material, or where applicable law expressly permits it.

Some dictionary data, pronunciation audio, software and other materials belong to third parties and are used under open or other authorized licences.

Those materials remain subject to their owners’ rights and licence terms, including any attribution, notice, share-alike or source requirements. These Terms do not override or restrict rights granted to you directly by those licences.

Vocabaura respects intellectual-property rights.

If you believe content on Vocabaura infringes your copyright or other rights, submit a report through the Vocabaura Support Center, describing it as a copyright or intellectual-property matter, or email support@vocabaura.com.

Please include, where applicable:

• Identification of the protected work;
• Identification of the allegedly infringing material and where to find it;
• Your contact information;
• Why you believe the use is unauthorized;
• A statement that your report is accurate;
• Confirmation that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them;
• Any additional information required by applicable law.

We may ask for more information before acting, and we may remove material or restrict accounts in cases of repeated infringement.

You may voluntarily send ideas, feedback, suggestions or feature requests about Vocabaura.

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, feedback is given without confidentiality or compensation, and you allow us to use and incorporate it in our products.

This applies only to product feedback. It does not transfer ownership of unrelated creative works simply because you contacted us.

Vocabaura does not currently offer a separate Education product for schools, universities or other institutions.

If Vocabaura offers Education Services in the future, additional agreements, privacy requirements, age restrictions or institutional terms may apply, and those more specific terms would control for that service.

Vocabaura does not currently offer a public API or developer program.

If Vocabaura makes API or developer access available, it may be governed by separate developer terms, licensing requirements, rate limits, pricing, data restrictions, attribution requirements and security requirements.

Attempting to access or circumvent internal interfaces without authorization is prohibited.

Free parts of Vocabaura may display advertising, which may be supplied by third-party advertising providers, including Google AdSense and its partner ad networks.

Where advertising is shown, it will be presented so it is distinguishable from dictionary entries, editorial content and learning controls.

Advertising cookies, identifiers, personalization and your available privacy choices are described in our Privacy Policy and in any applicable consent mechanism.

Vocabaura+ may provide an ad-free experience where that is described as a benefit of the plan you bought.

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by the Vocabaura Privacy Policy.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to review it.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent through the Vocabaura Support Center, subject to any additional verification required by law.

Vocabaura may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts or access when reasonably necessary, including for:

• Material violations of these Terms;
• Fraud or payment fraud;
• Security threats or illegal activity;
• Abuse of other users or of the Services;
• Unauthorized automated access;
• Repeated intellectual-property violations.

Where appropriate, and where required by law, we will give notice or a chance to fix the issue. Where we terminate paid access without cause, we will address amounts already paid in line with applicable law.

You may stop using Vocabaura at any time. You can delete your account from your account settings, or request deletion through the Vocabaura Support Center using your account email. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved words and learning history, and ends access to purchased Vocabulary Packs and remaining AI Credits; cancel any active membership first.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VOCABAURA AND THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOCABAURA DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• VOCABAURA WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE;
• THE SERVICES WILL ALWAYS BE ERROR-FREE;
• EVERY DEFINITION OR EXPLANATION WILL BE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE;
• AI-GENERATED INFORMATION WILL ALWAYS BE CORRECT;
• EVERY WORD OR PHRASE WILL BE AVAILABLE;
• EVERY PRONUNCIATION OR EXAMPLE WILL BE ERROR-FREE;
• THE SERVICES WILL MEET EVERY USER’S PARTICULAR REQUIREMENTS.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VOCABAURA AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES.

THIS MAY INCLUDE, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, PROFITS, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES OR GOODWILL.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOCABAURA’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) $100; OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICES DURING THE 12 MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vocabaura and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents from claims, liabilities, losses, damages and reasonable expenses arising from:

• Your material violation of these Terms;
• Your unlawful use of the Services;
• User Content you submit that infringes another person’s rights;
• Your fraud or intentional misconduct.

This section does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law, and does not apply to consumers where local law restricts such obligations.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of Vocabaura is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

Courts and venue will be those of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights available to you under local law. If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive your right to a jury trial or to participate in class proceedings.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact the Vocabaura Support Center so we can try to resolve the issue directly.

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not waive our right to enforce it or any other provision later.

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our permission, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Vocabaura may transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy and any additional terms shown at checkout for a specific product, form the agreement between you and Vocabaura for the Services they cover.

Before completing a purchase you can review the Terms of Service, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy from the site footer, without signing in.
