Notes are a typing skill
Taking notes while listening is the hardest typing most students do, because you cannot pause to find keys. Practicing short note-style lines builds exactly that ability.
Essays reward endurance
Accuracy that holds for one line and collapses after a paragraph is not yet reliable. Longer passages train you to keep form when you are tired.
Timed conditions are worth practicing separately. Typing an answer with a clock running uses different habits from typing an essay at home, and the difference shows up mostly in punctuation and capitals.
Build the habit in short, regular sessions during term rather than in a rush before an assessment. Ten minutes a few times a week is enough to make a real difference over a term.
Type the vocabulary you are studying
